Mississippi State prescribes minimum standards of scholarship in determining whether a student may continue with studies. This determination is made at the end of the fall and spring semesters, at the end of the summer session, or any part of a semester in which the student has been enrolled. While the academic standing of a student is determined by the Mississippi State Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA), students must earn a 2.0 GPA on both the Mississippi State and overall cumulative GPA’s to earn a degree.

Mississippi State recognizes students as adults who are expected to obey the law and the rules and regulations of the university, to take personal responsibility for their conduct, to respect the rights of others, and to have regard for the preservation of state and university property, as well as the private property of others.

Graduate students are eligible to apply for a research, teaching and service assistantship. Many of the assistantships provide monthly stipends and a portion or all of tuition. For more information about assistantships visit grad.msstate.edu/funding-tuition/assistantships.
